Install apps to SD card

in Best Android Apps

The App 2 SD Android App helps you free up your internal Xperia X8 memory by moving  apps to your SD card. Not all apps will allow you to move them onto the SD card so this app will find the ones that do. In my X8 it is about 80%.

When the app first loads there are three tabs that the app separates your apps into: On Phone, On SD card and Phone only for the apps that cannot be moved to your SD card. To move an app select it and an Application Info screen will appear with the storage stats, cache and a few other options. You can uninstall the app from here as well if you want to. To move the app from your internal X8 memory to your SD card just press the Move to SD card button. Once you have moved the app to the SD card you can move it back by pressing the button that now says Move to the phone. You can also see how much of your X8’s internal memory that you are using at the bottom of the screen.

Overall, this app allows you to free up your phone’s memory by moving apps to the SD card. The app is in free and paid version. Paid one cost $1.49 atm and is definitely worth of the money. The free version is only with ads, great to.

This app is possible to use ONLY with Android 2.2. I know it’s not official version of Android 2.2 for Xperia X8 but it is way how to get it inside your phone.

Hi Sabiina,
Try to use another SIM card. There will be something wrong with your card. The phone is probably working fine.

Your phone storage data is not big enough. Try deleting the useless apps in your phone. I encountered similar problems prior to yours. So I did the former method and it works :D

Hi Lavanya,
You have the phone only one week? Take it back to the shop, you’ll get new one. Anyway, try to take off the battery and boot the phone.

When I try to download the app from Android marketplace it says that my device is not compatible with this app. I have an Xperia X8.

It depends on Android version (the operating system) in your phone. You should check it first. This app is for Android 2.2 or above.

I and more people like me, tried so many ways to get the apps2SD before also on another Android devices. I’m sorry, there is only one way, get the Froyo or above Android. I’m not a coder any way so I may don’t understand it properly, some people are talking about the Android with and without instructions. The Froyo has a native support to install anything anywhere. The early versions of Android simply don’t.

I’m sorry, if you want to install apps to SDcard, you’ll need to get the Froyo spinning inside your Xperia.

If I update my X8 to v.2.2, than I install app2sd pro n more all app to SD card, after that I restore my x8 to v.2.1. By that ways all apps that move to SD card can be use?

x8 June 18, 2011 at 12:13 am

I don’t think so. If you restore the Android 2.1, You won’t be able to use apps from SD card. It’s all about instructions in the Android 2.2.

I cant find the app 2 sd app and would it work with gingerbread instead of froyo? Thanks.

Josh September 17, 2011 at 1:46 pm

You can install App2SD to Gingerbread. If you can’t find it, try to scan this QR Code:

Apps2SD

It will open your Android market with the App2SD app.

Then is not in your market. In some countries will show up different apps. Try this link:www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/app-2-sd-move-app-to-sd_jucw.html or use search “download app2sd”

I’m also living in United Kingdom and I’m able to install it to my Xperia X8. What is the number of your Android OS? I’m on Froyo and I’m able to see it in the market. Also able to get it from another sites. It must be something wrong with your Android version. Just try to reinstall the whole system or use another ROM.

Is it work on Sony Ericsson Walkman W8 too?

Reply

x8 November 4, 2011 at 5:47 pm

Hi Sovandy, I can’t see any reason why it shouldn’t work with your phone. All you need is Android 2.2 or higher. The W8 is not in European market so I can’t confirm but I hope someone else will. You can always install the app to your SE W8 and you’ll see if is working. If you have Android Éclair 1.6 of Froyo 2.1 try to get this app for moving apps to SD card.

Hi x8, I too have SE w8. But heard that hardware should support the upgrade. I don’t want to experiment as I have purchased it just 15 days back. Also I have read somewhere that if I unofficially upgraded phone I will loose its warranty. Please guide.

x8 November 11, 2011 at 9:01 am

Hi Mohan,
As I don’t have the W8 I can’t help too much. I actually checked official Sony Ericsson Website and found nothing about official upgrade. The only way (at this moment) to get Android Froyo or above is flashing the phone with custom ROM. If you just want to get apps to SD, you can try this application witch is working with older Android versions.
You’ll need to root your phone and make second partition on your SD card. It’s much easy then flashing phone with custom Rom.

And Yes, with flashing the phone with custom ROM or with gaining root access you will LOOSE YOUR WARRANTY. If you don’t want to loose the warranty don’t do anything unofficial, just use the phone and wait for official Android Froyo for your W8. From what I read, the SE Android Walkman phone is great even without new update. I know It’ll be better but you need to wait for the official version.

Here I don’t have WiFi so I can’t download that application “app 2 sd” from android market. From where can I download it except from android market?

x8 April 2, 2012 at 9:26 am

Hi Filip,
If you can’t get it to your phone because the Xperia X8 isn’t connected to the internet, you can always download the app from Google Play to your computer and move the app from PC to your Xperia X8 using this tutorial.
