Sync your Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 with iTunes

If you have a large iTunes library and you have a new Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 you definitely need to synchronize your music. The following guide shows you how to quickly and easy set up your Windows computer to sync your Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 with music from iTunes.

The first section details how to acquire a small piece of software called “iTunes Agent“, that allows you to use your Xperia X8 with iTunes on a Windows-based computer (we are assuming that you already have iTunes installed, and have an existing library of music).

Let’s go:

  1. Download and install iTunes Agent
  2. Once installed, the application runs in the system tray and monitors iTunes
  3. Plug the Xperia X8 into your computer’s USB port and mount it
  4. Touch the USB icon that appears in the menu bar at the top of the display, and drag it down to expose the Android Notification Panel
  5. Tap on USB Connected, and select Mount
  6. Create a folder on the mounted Xperia X8 called Music
  7. Right-click on the iTunes Agent icon in the system tray
  8. Click Preferences
  9. Leave all defaults checked and click the New button
  10. Give the device a name (Xperia X8)
  11. Leave Synchronize pattern: set to iTunes
  12. Click the Choose button and select the Music folder you created on the Xperia X8
  13. Click Save and then Close
  14. Launch iTunes and you will see a play-list folder called My Devices, under which you will see the Xperia X8
  15. Simply drag the music you wish to synchronize from your iTunes library to your Xperia X8 into this play-list
  16. Finally, right-click on the iTunes Agent icon in the system tray and select Synchronize devices

I have Xperia x8, the phone is not showing up on my Mac. Are there any drivers for the Mac and if so where can I find them?

Hi Imnotabunny,
I’m able to connect the Xperia X8 with MacBook and I had never installed any drivers or software for Xperia to the MacBook. Just make sure you are connecting the X8 with Disk Mode: First plug the USB cable to your computer. Connect the phone to the USB cord. On the phone screen select Disk Drive from the options and press Done.
